Ever wonder who grows the food on our shelves? Come meet Jack Perez of Singing Pond Farm and taste some of his freshly grown veggies!
Singing Pond Farm is a family-owned farm founded in 2023 by Jack and Audrey in Hollis. Using sustainable, low-till, organic farming practices, they grow a variety of produce and cut flowers with a bigger goal in mind: helping build a more resilient local food system.
That mission extends beyond the farm, too. Singing Pond intentionally donates a portion of each harvest to local nonprofit organizations working to address food insecurity.
Jack’s path to farming began with a background in public health and a passion for growing healthy food. He trained through the Sustainable Urban Agriculture Apprenticeship Program run by Chicago Botanic Garden and Windy City Harvest, where he was able to bring together his experience working with community partners and his love of growing food.
Now, we’re excited to welcome Jack to Sweet Beet for our next Taste Local & Meet Your Farmer event!
- Meet the farmer behind your food
