A Tray of Green Promises!

The spring of 2025 marked the 6th Annual Tray it Forward Project—a shared initiative to support more home gardens in the Kearsarge area!

8000 vegetable seedlings were grown by Spring Ledge Farm. 21 Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners volunteers helped transplant the seedlings into trays. 11 volunteers transformed a huge mound of compost into 250 bags to help enrich the planting soil for each tray of seedlings.

On May 30th, 100 recipients picked up their trays at Sweet Beet NH or Colby-Sawyer College, and 26 volunteers delivered seedlings to 60 individual homes in 12 Kearsarge area towns. 200 trays went to food pantries, the New London Hospital, and Newport Health Center for distribution to their clients.

"It’s always been an excellent experience! The program is very much appreciated by me as I could not afford to plant such a good garden without it. Many thanks to everyone who makes this possible!”

“Last spring I was recovering from a surgery and needed help starting my garden for the first time. The program allowed me to have an abundant and uplifting crop of vegetables and herbs. A follow-up volunteer came by to talk about the program and to take photos. It was a wonderful experience, to feel the surrounding community reaching out.”

“It is amazing! The plants were great! They lasted so long and it got me excited about gardening. I tried new things and I can't wait to start my garden this year. I used to dread any gardening.”

This project is community funded! A $20 donation supports a home garden. Thank you for investing in home gardens, food security, and community connections with a donation today!
