Sniff, nibble, explore, & play, then take a garden away!
SHEI is delighted to partner with Kelly Dwyer of Nature Education Opportunities, and Xochi Salazar of the Kearsarge Food Hub (KFH) to host a celebration of our natural world!
Children will explore the wonders of NH's wetlands by creating investigation stations to examine the insects living in the pond’s muddy substrate, searching the water's edge for mammal tracks and amphibious life, and challenging each other to peek at critters in the "mystery habitat containers."
Older teens and adults are invited to invigorate their senses by touching, tasting, and smelling during a wild edible and medicinal plant walk! The workshop will teach key plant identification tips, offer insight into honorable harvesting, and provide hands-on practice flagging plants for protection.
All will then return together to create make-and-take garden buckets to start their summer salad, graciously donated through FEED Kearsarge’s 7th annual Tray It Forward initiative!
